 Coaching... where to start?

Welcome to the wonderful world of coaching!

Whether a first-time coach or active for many years yet seeking fresh ideas, we offer coach development opportunities for every age and stage.

Year 1-8 & beginner coaches

As a starting-point, there are FREE futureFERNS coach resources & workshops on offer for coaches of Year 1-8 players. These workshops are perfect for parents plucked from the sideline to take up coach duties for the first time or those who may have been out of the game for a wee while seeking a refresher.

Workshops cover modified game variations and target essential basic skills for the following four age groups:
Year 1&2
Year 3&4
Year 5&6
Year 7&8

Our Junior Netball Satellites (Motu Kairangi Netball, Northern Suburbs Netball, and Wellington West Netball) schedule each of these workshops annually at a time and place convenient for their members.  Workshops run prior to the start of each season - dates vary per age group per satellite. Workshops provide a great practical opportunity to walk and talk through activities within the resources as they feature 10 weeks of session plans. Also the best chance to ask any questions on the spot, ease your mind and increase your confidence.  Easy!

Performance Coach Qualification (PCQ) is for coaches who have attained their CCA and are working with representative athletes within the development and performance levels. The formal qualification consists of five advanced modules facilitated via an E-Learning portal, in-workshop course tasks, an evidence-based portfolio and observations over a three-year period.

High Performance Coach Development is a facilitated formal and informal programme designed to challenge and support the individual development of elite coaches. Coaches must be engaged with the development of identified elite athletes within the High Performance Pathway.
