Netball Centres are always on the look out for passionate people to help support and develop coaches!
If this sounds like you - you may already be a Coach Developer without realising it...
Who would be a good Coach Developer?
- Anyone who is passionate about growing the sport of Netball and supporting Coaches and is willing to provide some of their time to help make it happen!
- Coaches who are engaged in the learning journey and are looking for ways to stretch themselves to grow
What could a Coach Developer do within our Centre?
- Help organise and/or facilitate informal or formal workshops or get togethers for the Coaches
- Provide 1:1 support / mentoring to Coaches- Lead a community of support in their club or school, that connects throughout the season
- Encourage a culture of learning and development
- Observe coaches and give feedback
- Support coaches on their learning journey and help connect them with developmentopportunities
- Create quality learning and support experiences for coaches that positively impacts their involvement in the game
How might this benefit you?
- Add new skills to your toolkit or to enhance skills you already have that will not only benefit you as a coach developer but in your personal and professional life

How can you get involved?
Netball Central Zone are hosting an Introduction to Coach Developer training that introduces participants to the skills of a coach developer.
2 hr online pre-session: Wednesday 12th March 2025 6.30pm (pre-requisite for in-person session)
1 day In-person workshop: Saturday 15th March 2025 9am-5pm, Vautier Park, Palmerston North
Small fee of $25 to cover costs for the day
By attending, you will learn:
- How to facilitate a quality learning experience
- The different settings that coach developers could operate in
- Coach – coach developer conversations
- Observations and feedback
Who's a good fit?
Training is ideally suited to any staff or volunteers who are operating in a capacity where they’re either delivery learning and development (L&D) or supporting coaches in trainings and/or games. Some examples are those:
- delivering and supporting futureFERNS
- delivering learning & development to and supporting community coaches of all levels
- delivering learning & development to and supporting umpire coaches
