Marketing Manager - Netball NSW (closes 15 July 2021)


Netball NSW is the peak state sporting organisation responsible for the governance, development, promotion and administration of netball throughout New South Wales and is affiliated to Netball Australia.

Netball NSW provides the framework for approximately 115,000 registered members and over 150,000 total participants to enjoy netball at all levels throughout New South Wales. Our sport continues to grow both on and off the court and much of this success can be attributed to the wide range of programs, facilities and services Netball NSW offers to its members and participants - from the grassroots level through to the elite, professional level.

Purpose of Position

The Marketing Manager has primary accountability for the development and execution of innovative marketing plans across Netball NSW, NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball brands and all associated programs, products and competitions that fall within this. 

Working across the business, the role will build collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and be accountable for the day to day execution of the marketing and brand strategy.  With a key focus on growing revenue from our customer base across participation, membership, commercial partners, corporate, and media platforms, the role will develop, deliver and execute comprehensive marketing plans that integrate grassroots with the elite teams. 

What Netball NSW is looking for.   

Reporting to the Executive General Manager Commercial & Marketing, we are looking for someone who is passionate about leading and building collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders and be accountable for the day to day execution of the marketing and brand strategy.

Marketing Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to develop and execute marketing plans to increase retention, acquisition and awareness across all participation programs, in
  • Work collaboratively with the EGM Commercial & Marketing and respective SSN EGM’s to execute marketing plans for the Suncorp Super Netball teams to drive membership, attendance and ticket sales to home games and events for the two elite SSN teams (NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball)
  • Manage the day to day relationship with media partners eg. Nova, Southern Cross Austerio, News Corp.
  • Manage content plans for all NNSW, NSW Swifts and Giants Netball

Data Responsibilities

  • Utilise data and analytics to focus and implement strategies to ensure the informed research based decision making to continually increase the prospect pool.
  • Develop a pathways strategy for prospects and fans to increase their consumption eg. participant to ticket purchaser, ticket purchaser to member.
  • Implement NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball Fan Clubs to increase the connection between the grassroots and the elite product

Fan Engagement Responsibilities

  • Actively seek fan engagement opportunities for Netball NSW, NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball.
  • Manage the player appearance schedule for the NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball and Ambassador roles for aligned players.
  • Implement a celebrity Ambassador/Influencer program for the NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball

Brand Responsibilities

  • Work across departments to develop a comprehensive and cohesive brand strategy and manage the strategy from concept through to execution.  This includes engagement with teams to develop collateral for stakeholder needs.
  • Design campaigns and provide technical expertise and advice to internal stakeholders that can inspire partners, members and customers to use specific products or support events.
  • Evolve and maintain the brand guidelines for Netball NSW, NSW Swifts and GIANTS Netball and provide final sign off of all promotional materials produced across the organisation.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Lead the Marketing stream of the Commercial & Marketing Department.
  • Supervise and manage direct reports to guide their delivery of relevant initiatives
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key personnel throughout the State.

Reporting

  • Prepare and present written reports to EGM Commercial & Marketing and the CEO, as required.
  • Effectively manage the relevant budget items.

Who are you?

The ideal candidates will have:

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in a marketing role within the sports or entertainment industry (desirable).
  • Strong leadership skills, with a minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience in the sport/not-for-profit industry (desirable).
  • Demonstrated ability to set priorities, plan work programs, meet deadlines and manage time effectively.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Thorough understanding of the sporting culture and not for profit organisations.
  • A high level of computer expertise covering word processing, presentation software, database skills and Microsoft Office.

  • Demonstrated experience in administration management.
  • High level interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, plan work programs, meets deadlines and manages time effectively.
  • Experience in working independently and as an integral part of a team.
  • Clear, professional and excellent oral and written communication skills
